Andrew Lloyd Webber Achieves Rare Feat

A New York University (NYU) business student, Cameron Deahl is currently pursuing a marketing degree with a minor in producing. When he isn’t studying or attending classes, Cameron Deahl enjoys attending Broadway shows.

Legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has enjoyed many years of success on Broadway since his first production, “Jesus Christ Superstar,” debuted in in 1970. With the recent revival of “Sunset Boulevard,” however, Webber has entered rarified air that only two other composers have seen, as he now has four shows running on Broadway at the same time.

In addition to “Sunset Boulevard,” Webber musicals “Cats,” “School of Rock,” and “Phantom of the Opera,” are currently in production. Only the duo of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein have ever seen four shows run at the same time; they accomplished the feat in 1953. In his comments to the London Telegraph about the feat, Webber said that Rodgers was his inspiration and he “never dreamed” he would achieve the accomplishment of having four shows run at the same time.
